JAPAN IN THE NEWS
Tomorrow, Yokohama will host the the 7th Tokyo International Conference on African Development(TICAD7). More than 4,500 Heads of state and government, as well as business and organization representatives are expected to gather for the 3-day event. Shigeru Ushio, Director-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' African Affairs Department, discussed the significance of TICAD7 in an interview."TICAD has placed emphasis on realizing the basic philosophy of African ownership and the international community’s partnership; that is, support for African self-help efforts," he said.
