In recent and upcoming developments, Taiwan is heavily investing in AI infrastructure, talent, and robotics, and is being boosted by global collaborations with tech companies like NVIDIA. Meanwhile, LinkedIn data highlights significant AI skill shifts in Hong Kong, and postings from Singapore detail roles in AI fintech and robotics. SoftBank is integrating AI into its global operations, and NVIDIA's GTC conference continues to showcase major AI breakthroughs.

Taiwan

  • Government-led AI push: Taiwan is implementing a "Ten Major AI Infrastructure Projects" initiative to generate over $510 billion in economic value by 2040 and become a global AI leader.
  • Focus areas: The government is targeting AI-related robotics, quantum technology, and silicon photonics. Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) is a key player developing silicon photonics and using AI to improve semiconductor manufacturing.
  • Talent cultivation: The country is addressing a potential talent shortage by enhancing training programs and attracting foreign professionals. The Taiwan AI Academy (AIA) offers courses to upskill the local workforce. In August 2025, the Taiwan Artificial Intelligence Government Talent Office was established to help integrate AI talent into the public sector.
  • Attracting foreign professionals: To lure top-tier AI professionals, Taiwan has introduced "Global Elite" cards with incentives such as faster permanent residency and enhanced social benefits.
  • Infrastructure expansion: Electronics giant Foxconn is building Taiwan's largest-ever AI supercomputer, powered by NVIDIA's chips, in Kaohsiung.

LinkedIn

  • Hong Kong: LinkedIn data reveals that at least 80% of job skills in Hong Kong will change by 2030 due to AI. In response, the LinkedIn-supported Future Ready Program is training the local workforce in future-focused skills, including AI.
  • Singapore: AI job postings on LinkedIn from Singapore highlight roles in AI fintech and AI robotics, indicating strong growth in these sectors.
  • Taiwan: LinkedIn posts and job boards confirm a vibrant AI jobs scene in Taiwan, with listings from companies like Wistron NeWeb Corporation and Taiwan AILabs. The International Talent Taiwan Office and Taiwan AI Academy are also active on the platform, showcasing their efforts to attract and cultivate AI talent.

Other entities

  • SoftBank: SoftBank is integrating AI into its business operations and investments. Its corporate philosophy centers on using the "Information Revolution" and AI to benefit society.
  • NVIDIA GTC: NVIDIA's GTC conference continues to serve as a major hub for AI development, attracting developers, engineers, and researchers. The event showcases the latest breakthroughs in AI, machine learning, and autonomous systems. In March 2025, the event heavily emphasized AI, with CEO Jensen Huang referring to it as the "Super Bowl of A.I.".

Taiwan and AI

  • AI development: Taiwan is actively cultivating its AI sector. Organizations like the Taiwan AI Academy and the Taiwan Artificial Intelligence Association (TAIA) are focused on fostering AI talent and integrating AI into various industries.
  • Global partnerships: Through LinkedIn, Taiwan has promoted itself as a critical partner in AI innovation, emphasizing its strengths in semiconductors and its role as a real-world testbed for AI solutions.
  • "AI Island": Taiwan has gained a reputation as an "AI island" due to its advanced AI technologies and automation capabilities.

SoftBank and AI/Taiwan

  • Strategic AI Investments: SoftBank, under CEO Masayoshi Son, is heavily focused on AI technology. This includes building stakes in major companies that support AI infrastructure, such as Nvidia and Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC).
  • "Project Crystal Land": In mid-2025, SoftBank announced a proposal to partner with TSMC on a massive $1 trillion AI and robotics industrial complex in Arizona. The project, named "Project Crystal Land," aims to bring high-tech manufacturing back to the U.S. and create an AI hub similar to China's Shenzhen.

Hong Kong, Singapore, and Taiwan

  • Microsoft and LinkedIn in HK: A June 2024 Microsoft and LinkedIn report on the "State of AI at Work" in Hong Kong was highlighted in the search. It noted that 88% of knowledge workers in Hong Kong use generative AI at work.
  • Cross-strait relations: Searches also found information on the political relationships between Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau, as well as residency policies for Hongkongers in Taiwan. However, these results do not involve AI or the other entities requested.
